We help you send a standardized text message that says: "Please quiet down" and "Thank you" to your neighbor. The text is sent from our Kricket phone number, so you remain anonymous.

Our goal is to create a self-regulating platform that helps reasonable people be reasonable neighbors.

Kricket is a student-grown startup that began out of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT during February 2014. Launching our first beta in March 2014, we aimed to alleviate the pressure between off campus students and permanent residents living around Quinnipiac. With more than 200 houses signed up in the first week, we knew we were on to something. We decided to offer the service on campus and eventually in apartments after such great feedback. After we graduated from our respective institutions, we decided to pursue this venture full time in hopes to join the ranks of college bred startups that are changing the world everyday.

On Campus

Universities Residential Life Department look to Kricket for help in providing a higher standard of living for their student residents. By giving students access to this tool, they are able to resolve their own noise issues, quickly, anonymously, and effeciently.

Students living on campus have the ability to send a standardized text message that says “Please quiet down” to their noisy neighbor. A student can login by using their student username and password, as assigned by the institution. After signing in, a student is shown their room along with other surrounding rooms in their residence hall. A student then clicks on their noisy neighbor’s room, clicks “Send Kricket”, and the standardized text message is sent to each student living in the selected room. Kricket gives students the ability to resolve noise issues among themselves, without third party intervention. Don’t worry, there are Kricket sending limits to avoid abuse of the service.

From organically generated data by student interactions using Kricket, Residential Life has access to Noise-Alytics™, a heat map for noise. Universities are able to see exactly where the noisy areas on campus are, and in tern this ability helps Residential Life to staff smarter, and identify problem areas on campus.

Off Campus

Having the police tell your neighbor to “quiet down”, is a waste of taxpayer dollars. The police have better things to do, and Kricket can help!

Off-Campus Map

People living off campus, students and permanent residents alike, can sign-up by using their email address, phone number, and physical address. All registered houses are displayed on a map. When someone gets noisey, you can click on the neighboring house on the map, and a standard text message is sent to every member of the neighboring house that says: “Please quiet down”. You can also follup with a “Thank you” message to build some neighborly love.

Property managers turn to Kricket to provide their residents with an outlet to enable them to resolve minor noise disputes between themselves without third-party intervention.

Property managers pre-enroll their residents in Kricket. Residents have the ability to send a standardized text message that says “Please quiet down” to their noisy neighbor. After a resident signs into Kricket, they can see their apartment along with other surrounding apartment in their building, like a blueprint of the building. A resident clicks on their noisy neighbor’s apartment, clicks “Send Kricket”, and the standardized message is sent to all residents of the neighboring apartment. Kricket gives residents the ability to resolve noise issues among themselves, without third party intervention. Don’t worry, there are Kricket sending limits to avoid abuse of the service.

From organically generated data by resident interactions using Kricket, Property Managers have access to Noise-Alytics™, a heat map for noise. This allows property managers to identify troubled tenants to help resolve issues before they arrise.

What is a “kricket”?

A “kricket” is a standarized message that one resident can send to another resident anonymously. Our typical messages are “Please Quiet Down” and “Thank You”. Others messages like “Please Shut The Door” can also be added to the list of options

How do you prevent abuse of the service?

A resident is limited to 3 Krickets per hour, or 6 per 48 hours. These limits can be changed by the administrator at any time.

What if the noisy resident does not quiet down?

All krickets sent are logged in the Administrator Dashboard. You will be able to see if other residents have sent krickets to the same room. If you recognize a growing problem, dispatching a third party for assistance is just a click away.

Who can see the data?

Only administrators have access to Noise-alytics™ (a heat map for noise) and kricket history.

What do residents see?

When a resident logs in, they can only see their building in a floor plan view. They have the the option of selecting a room directly on their floor, or the floors below and above. No rivate information of any resident is viewable to another resident.

Can residents edit the message?

No, all messages are standardized and cannot be edited in any way. Only the administrator has the ability to modify the standard messages.

How do you integrate?

We have a variety of integration methods. Ideally, we would like to have a meeting with your IT department, or the person who manages resident data. Then we will have a better idea moving forward. Integration is completely dependent on your resident data storage.
